I’ve tested out different software to build online businesses. On this page I share the tools and courses I recommend that I personally use in my business. Links noted with an asterisk (*) are affiliate links, meaning I receive a commission if you make a purchase at no additional cost to you.
Affiliate Marketing Program
I recommend Philip Borrowman's Taking Action Online program, which is about affiliate marketing and is targeted at beginners. It includes blogging, YouTube, and other platforms for marketing such as Quora, Medium and social media. This program is what I personally used to finally start seeing real results online and make commissions.
Email Marketing Software
GetResponse offers a lot of email marketing features and depending on the plan that you choose, they also offer an autoresponder, website, landing pages, webinars, automations and funnels. If you're just starting out, I suggest trying their free plan which gives you unlimited broadcasts and one landing page. If you want to send out automated emails and use integrations with other software to collect leads, try their lowest paid plan. If you want to use automation and webinar features, you can subscribe to their Plus plan.
Graphic Design Software
The graphic design software that I use to design thumbnails, and just about design and create anything ever is Canva. It's very beginner friendly, easy to use and they also offer a free plan, which is what I use the majority of the time.
Artificial Intelligence Writing Software
I mostly use ChatGPT, however I dislike the inability to edit the output on an ongoing basis. For this reason I also use an inexpensive Artificial Intelligence writing software to help me write emails, brainstorm YouTube video ideas, write blog posts and create marketing content for various review pages. You can get started with Rytr for free, but they also offer paid plans which you can scale to if you exceed the free plan character limit. Their cheapest paid plan, which is what I often use is only $9/month.
Hosting & Domain
I use Siteground for my website hosting and domain, which I am very happy with. I have also used Bluehost in the past, however I found it not as simple to use and have had issues with their support.
For my website I use WordPress, which I get access to with my Siteground plan. I use the Grow Big plan, which I get unlimited websites with. Their cheapest plan gives you 1 website.
I use the HyperX QuadCast S microphone with the changing colors from Amazon. I have an Amazon affiliate link below.
For some of my videos where I want to add more complicated edits to it, I need something more advanced than Screenpal, and for these videos I use DaVinci Resolve. They have a free version, and a one-time fee paid version, but the free version offers more than enough features for me.
Video Editing Software - Automatically Remove Gaps/Pauses
I use Recut to sync my audio and video together, and to automatically remove the pauses and gaps in my recordings with the click of a button. This software is a life-changer, and I'd recommend it to everyone who edits long-form videos. It's also a one-time fee! You can get $10 off by using my affiliate link.
Stock Footage, Sound Effects, Music Platform
I use Envato Elements to access thousands of stock footage resources that I use in my YouTube videos. This includes stock videos, editing templates, graphics, music, sound effects and more.
Screen Recording/Filming & Editing Software
I create a lot of videos where I share and record my screen, along with myself on camera. I use Screenpal because it is simple to use and inexpensive. It is also an editing software, which I use as I find its 'cut' feature very simple and quick to use. The software is not perfect, there are some bugs and hiccups I have experienced when using it, particularly when trying to add lots of edits into a video, but it does the trick for simple edits and recording videos.
